Apple Pie Baking Competition
Eligibility
Open to all community members
Participants must register below by 9/28
Only one entry per person
Entry Requirements
All pies must be homemade (crust, filling, and topping). No store-bought or pre-made pies.
Pies must be presented in a disposable pie tin.
Each pie must be accompanied by a recipe card listing all ingredients (to help with allergies and transparency). Cards will be emailed to participants the week of the Harvest Festival.
Judging Criteria
A panel of 5 judges will evaluate pies based on:
Taste (40%) – Flavor balance, apple quality, seasoning, sweetness, texture.
Crust (25%) – Flakiness, flavor, doneness.
Appearance (20%) – Overall presentation and creativity.
Originality (15%) – Unique twist, creative recipe.
Competition Process
Drop-off: Contestants deliver pies to our deli department between 8am on 10/4 and 10am 10/5.
Judging: Begins promptly at 1pm on Sunday, October 5th
Public Tasting: After judging, slices will be shared with attendees.
Awards Ceremony: Winners announced at 4pm
Prizes
1st Place: $75 Gift Card
2nd Place: $50 Gift Card
3rd Place: $25 Gift Card
Rules of Conduct
No alcohol-based ingredients unless clearly labeled.
Pies must be safe for consumption and we ask that you withdraw from the competition if there is illness in your household
Judges’ decisions are final.
Any pie not following rules may be disqualified.
